Initiating HTTP connections is a relatively resource-intensive task. The additional overhead of establishing HTTPS/SSL connections is even more substantial. Using persistent HTTP connections can help in some circumstances, but minimizing the number of HTTP/HTTPS connections is the best way to reduce overall document load times:

• Remove redundant or unused JavaScript and CSS files.
• Consolidate JavaScript and CSS resources into fewer, larger files.
• Consider enabling GZIP compression if resource files are large.
• Rationalize images, ensuring they are optimally compressed.
