ICEfaces is a rich web application technology platform for J2EE. ICEfaces harnesses the power of Ajax technology enabling Java developers to rapidly create and deploy thin-client rich web applications that are easily maintained, and scaled, at very low cost.
Unique in the industry, ICEfaces provides an Ajax-enabled rich presentation environment for JavaServer Faces (JSF) applications. With ICEfaces, rich web application features are developed in pure Java, and deployed in a pure thin-client model. There are no Applets or proprietary browser plug-ins required. The ICEfaces Ajax Bridge takes care of all aspects of communication between the framework and the client browsers sheltering developers from any JavaScript development.

ICEfaces Component Suite:
This release introduces the ICEfaces Component Suite, a complete set of enhanced standard and custom JSF components that fully leverage ICEfaces Direct-to-DOM rendering technology. These components provide additional benefits over other JSF components, such as:
> Optimized to fully leverage ICEfaces Direct-to-DOM rendering technology (partial page rendering).
> Support for additional attributes for ICEfaces-specific features such as partial submit and incremental page updates.
> Support for comprehensive component look-and-feel customization via predefined CSS-based component themes.

Framework:
> Client/Server communication now supports both synchronous and asynchronous modes of communication. > Improved support for using ICEfaces to enrich the UIs of existing JSP-based applications. This provides a suitable migration path to incorporate ICEfaces-enabled regions within a JSP page.
> Asynchronous mode communication now includes a mechanism that monitors and maintains open connections for application stability and robustness.
